Tap Roots Teacher Certification Course

Course Overview: This two-day certification course is designed specifically for dance teachers and studio owners. You’ll be guided through the Tap Roots Curriculum and learn how to effectively implement it in your classes. A demonstrator is not required for this workshop.

Day One: Introduction to Tap Roots

• Host: A member of the Tap Roots creation team
• Focus: Fundamentals of the Tap Roots Curriculum
  • Explore the seven levels of the Tap Roots program and the consistent framework for teaching them.
  • Understand how the progressive curriculum develops solid tap technique, enabling dancers to advance to higher levels.
  • Learn how to use the intuitive Tap Roots app and its many features.
  • Integrate concepts of timing, musicality, counting, sound quality, terminology, and historical and cultural background.

Day Two: Tap Roots in the Classroom

• Host: Miss Julie Kay Stallcup
• Focus: Implementing Tap Roots in your studio
  • Discover effective teaching strategies for warm-ups, using worksheets, tap combos, teaching tips and methods, games, motivating students, music, and rhythm.
  • Learn how to create strong tap choreography from an expert.
  • Certification: At the end of the course, there will be an exam. Completing the course and passing the exam will certify you as a Tap Roots Teacher.
